The Abstinence Clearinghouse Blog

Today I was talking to a friend who is pregnant by her boyfriend.  They have since broken up and he is apparently running around with all sorts of women.  So here she is, planning to have a baby by herself, wondering why she gave in to the pressure to have sex.

It makes me appreciate that my wife and I were abstinent until marriage.  I don’t have to worry about if she slept with anyone or if she has any STDs or would get pregnant. 

I am confident in our relationship because we did save ourselves for marriage, not for religious reasons, but because we knew it was the SMART choice!  We don’t wonder what it would be like to be with other people or have any regrets.  We dated for 5 years before we were married and took that time to get to know each other and develop our friendship.  After every wedding there is a marriage!
