Planned Parenthood and Others on the Prowl
Published by Kayla April 22nd, 2008 in AbstinenceToday in South Dakota, like many other states previously, Planned Parenthood and 8 other anti-abstinence groups called for Governor Rounds to find a “common sense solution to a serious public health issue…..to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion in South Dakota.” Further, they called for a “comprehensive plan” to get this done. Meanwhile, they never suggest what they think this so called common sense, comprehensive solution is but we all know better, don’t we? These extremist groups have been active all over the country scaring Governors into believing that abstinence education doesn’t work. However, as Planned Parenthood and their cronies stood before the media in an effort to manipulate the public opinion on this matter, a press conference was held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC releasing two new studies showing the effectiveness of abstinence. You can read more about these by clicking here: http://www.abstinence.net/library/index.php?entryid=3727
These studies are just a couple of many studies supporting the effectiveness of abstinence programs in the country.
This effort by opponents to abstinence education is becoming common throughout the United States and abstinence supporters need to be aware of it. If your state supports abstinence education or receives federal funding to distribute to the state for abstinence education, it is vital that you are thanking your Governor for His/Her support. Never forget the importance of educating your state officials about your program and its effectiveness. Share your success stories and remember that evaluation information is great and very important to have but no information is greater than the testimony from a young person who has been impacted by your program who is “living the life!”
