Independence Day
Published by anonymous July 4th, 2008 in AbstinenceOn this 232nd Independence Day I hope you will remember the reason we celebrate. Adams stated that we should recognize this day with “solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty,” and with a rededication to the priciples of our necessary American Revolution. And as always, in the words of George Washington, “Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.”
I also hope you will join me today on this 4th of July, the birthday of American independence and freedom, in praying for the safety of the members of our armed forces who are in harm’s way. They deserve no less, and much, much more.
