Feeling Stuck & Finding Freedom

Repeatedly messing up can sometimes feel like digging yourself into a hole, where the further you dig down, the harder it will be to get out. When a person makes a habit of viewing pornography, it can act as an addicting drug. Pornography re-wires the brain, especially when the viewer is young. Even while many people who view pornography know that it is wrong, they feel stuck. Each time they repeat that wrong action, the hole gets a little deeper, until they are completely stuck in their ways. It is so easy to feel stuck and discouraged, not knowing how to get out of the hole.

Jason Evert recently shared an episode of his podcast Lust is Boring with Steve Pokorny from Freedom Coaching about how men and women can break the addictive pattern of pornography and find freedom.

Pornography isn't the only sin that can make us feel stuck in a hole though. Whether you or someone you know is struggling with gambling, excessive drinking, drug use or a kind of sexual addiction, it is important to know that it is never too late to begin making different decisions and find healing in Christ. C.S. Lewis wrote, "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." (Check out our Truth about Second Chances Booklet!)
