Millennial Views on Cracked Phones and Casual Sex

A recent article in USA Today says it all: "Survey: Sleeping together before a first date is a-OK, but cracked phones are a put off." The story focuses primarily on the attitudes millennials have towards dating and relationships.

According to the annual Singles in America survey, funded by Dallas-based dating service Match, 34 percent of singles have sex before the first date and millennials are 48 percent more likely to have sex before a first date than any other generation.

Helen Fisher, a biological anthropologist and chief scientific adviser to Match, claimed "Sex before the first date could be a sex interview, where they want to know if they want to spend time with this person... In many ways sex has become a less intimate part of dating... We used to think of sex as you crossed the line now you are in an intimate zone, but now sex is almost a given and it's not the intimate part..."

The article published by USA Today brings the issue of casual sex to a new level. Frankly, casual sex leads to heartache and betrayal. It is unreasonable to say that two individuals can have sex and not develop feelings towards one another. The biological release of oxytocin is enough evidence to support the bond that is created between two individuals. The bottom line: "casual" sex is not casual.
