Parents Given the Option to Opt-Out in Indiana

In January, the Indiana State Senate passed Senate Bill 65 requiring schools to obtain written permission from parents or guardians before teaching students about human sexuality, including "sexual activity, sexual orientation or gender identity."

The bill, sponsored by Senator Dennis Kruse, also requires school corporations to make their sexual education instructional material available for inspection by parents prior to being used in the class.
