Rare STD on the Rise in UK

A rare "flesh-eating' sexually transmitted disease (STD) is surging in the United Kingdom. This STD is called donovanosis, a genital ulcerative disease caused by a bacterial infection. Even though donovanosis is not actually "flesh-eating," it gives this appearance by causing large red lesions on the genital area. It also increases risk of disease transmission, including HIV. Donovanosis is mostly found in India, South Africa and South America, but is very rare elsewhere. However, according to Dr. Karan Raj there are increasing cases in the UK.
