Roblox conducted a survey of teen users to understand how they are using Roblox to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. They found that 40% of respondents felt like their online friendships had improved and 52% were spending the same or more time with real-life friends via online modalities. The survey also indicated that nearly a third of respondents (30%) reported their parents are showing more interest in their online lives, including learning about and playing Roblox with them.
This pro-active, engaged approach to technology is encouraging and should be normalized as it promotes safe and screen-wise internet use. Ask your child what games they have been playing online. Be sure to ask about who they meet online and ask if you can join them in their next online game.
