The most popular app for teenagers is making strides by fighting sexual exploitation and abuse on its platform. Recently, they updated their Community Guidelines and several other features.
One updated feature is that now, when you download the app, most safety settings are automatically set for minors as a default. TikTok also removed the higher risk features like direct messaging for 13-15 year olds and created easier, more effective parental controls. TikTok is also beginning to automatically screen for nudity and explicit content, acknowledging that this content was traumatic even for adult TikTok employees to screen, much less the young users.
