Who Is Watching?

Porn has been sweeping across the nation creating millions of addicts. In 2016 alone, 107 million out 259 million internet users will visit adult sites each month. TIME magazine's article, "Porn" by Belinda Luscombe, illustrates this ever growing problem. Due to the addiction, a large number of young men are worried that their sexual responses will be sabotaged because their minds have been destroyed by porn. Gabe Deem, 28, is a porn addict who says porn was apart of his daily life. His partner commented, "He would try to start something, and then in the middle he would say, 'I think we should wait.'" With much confusion, the partner was worried that she was not good enough, but in reality Gabe was being hit with his addiction. He was trying to measure up to what he thought it all entailed. Research has found that habitual porn can have an effect on the brain. The Max Planck Institute found that, "the more pornography men consumed, the smaller the brain striatum," says Kuhn, the author. Further, the University of Cambridge in 2014 found that men with compulsive sexual behavior react in the same way drug users would. The addicts craved it even if there was no feeling from it. If you or someone you know struggles with a porn addiction, you can get help. Click here or here for more information.
