I was involved in an abusive relationship when I found out I was expecting. I ended things to protect myself and my baby. I agonized about being a single parent and realized I wanted my child to have more than the life I could give her by myself. It was heart-wrenching, but I decided to choose a family and place my baby in an open adoption. On November 21, 2018, I had a baby girl and put her into the arms of a couple who loved her as much as I do.
I am so blessed that my friend told me about the local pregnancy center. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without all their support. My mentor, Courtney, has not just given me guidance and encouragement, she has given me unconditional friendship and led me into a closer relationship with God.
I don’t know exactly what the Lord has planned for my life, but I have a feeling it is going to be wonderful because His plans are amazing. I have hopes of someday mentoring another young woman who comes to the pregnancy center looking for the kind of care and reassurance I found.
I also have a new admiration for all mothers and the love they have for their children. I may not see my daughter every day, but I will always be her mother. My daughter has two mothers…how cool is that?!
