The Parents Television Council (PTC) conducted a 20-year examination that reviewed the effectiveness of the TV content ratings system. The research proved that the ratings failed to protect children and inversely protected Hollywood's lewd content.  A closer look at the research showed that prime time shows appropriate for all audience "TV-G" programs dropped from 27 hours during a two-week span in 1997 to zero hours in 2014.
