Bill Taverner, the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood's Center for Sex Education in New Jersey, recently made headlines by claiming that children are born "sexual" and that humans are sexual beings in "all ages and stages." He said this while pushing for comprehensive sex education (CSE) in schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. He believes that kindergarten is an appropriate age to start CSE because kids are already gaining an understanding of sexuality at home from their parents and the way they interact with one another.
Even more disturbing, Taverner has advocated for "porn literacy" as a part of CSE for children "of a certain age." Pornography is never appropriate no matter what age a person is. Showing it to children is abusive. It especially should not be used to teach children about sexuality.
God's design for sexuality, that is between one man and one woman within the covenant of marriage, is best taught by a child's parents. Parents are the primary educators of their children and have a God-given right and responsibility to educate their children.
