Pope Francis Calls for Universal Sex Education

On Sunday, January 27, 2019, the issue of "sex education" was addressed by Pope Francis at an inflight press conference on his return to Rome from Panama on World Youth Day. According to a recent article by Randy Engel, Pope Francis called for universal "sex education."

Engel's article outlines why Pope Fancis aims to push sex education so persistently and ignores the "latency period" so well accepted by the Catholic Church. St. John Paul II referred to the latency period as the years of innocence. According to St. John Paul II, this stage varies from child to child and can span into adolescence.

Everything in this culture wants to violate those years of innocence. The world seeks to destroy innocence by design. Advertisers, books, movies and social media attempt to sexualize children at a young age.

According to Dr. Richard Day, a former National Medical Director of Planned Parenthood-World Population, the real purpose of "sex education" is to get children interested in sex at an early age and have them make the connection between sex and the need for contraception early in their lives, even before they become sexually active. In a 1969 speech on the coming "New World System (Order) Day" insisted that sex and reproduction must be separated.

Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade on January 22, 1973 Dr. Alan Guttmacher, another Planned Parenthood official, was asked by a Washington Star News reporter how the decision could be made absolutely secure, once and for all. Guttmacher responded with two words, "sex education."

According to Engel, in the text of Amoris Laetitia, released by Pope Francis in 2016, he uses terms such as virtue, modesty, chastity, commitment, respect and fertility. The term "sex education," often sold to Catholic parents as "family life education," points youth in the opposite direction because:

  • "Sex Education" is not about God or the Natural Law. It is about sexual idolatry.
  • It is not about virtue, but about vice.
  • It is not about morality, but about immorality.
  • It is not about chastity and modesty, but about the destruction of innocence and purity.
  • It is not about the facts if life, but rather about death and killing.
  • It is not about fertility, but about sterility.
  • It is not about love, but about achieving physical pleasure.
  • It is not about respect and honor, but about dishonor and infidelity.
  • It is not about family life, but about the destruction of the family and the undermining of parental authority.

Engel writes that ultimately, the idea of "'sex education' is anti-educational, anti-child and anti-family."
